Your step by step guide to worktop templating and fitting

Unsure what you need to do prior to having your new granite worktop fitted? With many years' experience in the trade, Cool Rock are on hand to help you through the entire work surface installation process.

Once you've decided on the right granite or quartz surface for your kitchen or bathroom, our expert team will be out at a time and date convenient to you to carry out worktop templating. This allows us to collect exact measurements and provide you with a perfect work surface that fits like a glove. Take a look at our guidelines below or call today for friendly and free advice.

Templating Guidelines

  • All surfaces to be templated should be clear and temporary or existing tops, sinks, taps and hobs removed.
  • All base units must be securely fixed to walls and surfaces where granite is to be fitted must be flat and true. All end panels should be fitted.
  • Ceramic or Cast iron & Fragranite undermounted sinks must be supported in the base unit on a framework or cradle. Steel undermounted sinks can be supported as above or can be suspended from 30mm granite if there is sufficient space for fixings. All sinks need to be on site for the templater.
  • Hobs and taps should be on site and made available to the templater.
  • Cookers should be in their final position or accurate dimensions should be made available to the templater.
  • AGA/Rayburn etc should be fitted in the final position, we cannot template to an acceptable standard if this is not so. We do not do part jobs.
  • Any plasterwork, rendering or plaster boarding, must be done before templating. If this is not possible, it must be done after the fitting of worktops and upstands.
  • Once templating has taken place no base units should be moved, if these items are not adhered to further charges may be made for any extra work incurred.
  • On our arrival, if we are unable to template or fit because the above has not been complied with, we reserve the right to charge for a second visit if this is necessary.
  • We do ask that you are present when templating takes place so the templater is aware of your exact requirements.

Granite Fitting Guidelines

  • All surfaces to be fitted should be clear and temporary or existing tops removed.
  • Access to the property and area in which the work is to take place should be clear and free from all obstructions.
  • All units or surfaces to have granite fitted must be flat and true. No responsibility will be accepted by ourselves for units which are not flat and true and which subsequently cause damage to the worktops when fitting takes place or thereafter.
  • You are required to be there when fitting takes place so you can sign our letter of acceptance and pay the final balance. If we arrive and there is nobody there to do this we reserve the right to charge for a second visit.
